Tennis Rules

1. Registration/Reservations

A.  The Club Tennis Professional will have charge of the courts, supervise Club tournaments, and conduct group and individual instruction during the season.
B.  The Tennis Committee will have the overall responsibility for the Tennis Program throughout the year.
C. During any tennis activity, the Tennis Pro shall have authority to solve any disputes.
D. All eight courts are open for play between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 9:00  p.m. on weekdays & weekends.Open from 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. on holidays.  Groups and private lessons shall have priority on 1-4 and courts 7-8.  This applies for the entire season.
E.  All members must register at the Tennis Shop prior to play.
F.  Members must register their guests at the Tennis Shop prior to play.
G.  Reservations may be made by members and their children 16 years and older.
H. Reservations may be made for two hours.
I.   Reservations will be held only ten minutes for a tardy player.  This will be strictly enforced.


2. Guest Policy

A.  Members must register their guests at the Tennis Shop prior to play. Guest fees are $10.00 Adults and $5.00 Children.


3. Tournaments and Tournament Rules

A.  All tournaments shall strictly adhere to USTA rules and regulations unless  a unique format is used to encourage participation, and has been authorized by the Pro and Tennis Committee.
B.  Only members and adult guests may compete in the men’s and women’s Invitational Tournaments.  Only members may participate in the adult club championships.  (Children of members are eligible in the Open Championship).
C.  If a tournament player or players are tardy by more than fifteen minutes, the scheduled match will be forfeited.
D. It is the tournament players responsibility to check in at the Tennis Shop for his/her scheduled match time.  If inclement weather develops, it remains the responsibility of the player to again check in at the Tennis Shop to determine the rescheduling.
E.  Tournament sign-up procedures will be announced by the Tennis Com mittee in the Highland Golf & Country Club newsletter and via email.
F.  It is agreed by each individual when signing-up for a tournament that he or she is available for play during the entire tournament. Matches will not be delayed or played other than those dates established for the tournament.   Entry fees will not be refunded.


4. Etiquette

A.  On and in the areas of the Tennis Courts, tennis attire of the type sold in tennis pro shops in the Indianapolis area is appropriate.  Tennis shoes, not running shoes, are required.
B.  The Tennis Pros and Staff are responsible for enforcing the Highland Dress Code on and around the Tennis Courts.
C.  Never walk across the courts.  Tennis players should always walk behind the fence and wind screens to your court.
D.  Please repair all divots or marks on the clay courts – this is very important in the spring while the courts are curing.
